Ceremony customs in Thailand

In Thailand, bridal customs are a community affair. Marriages may be arranged by families, and a groom may win the respect of both his bride’s community and his own. This can be seen in the marriage, also known as Sin Sod, and the custom of giving the bride’s home gifts thai pretty girls of cash and silver. This behavior is viewed as a sign of the vicar’s societal standing and prosperity.

A handful may welcome an unusual number of monks to their home on the wedding day to participate in Rod Nam Sang, a unique blessing ritual. The priests may give the newlyweds liquid as a blessing and wish them success in their marriage.

The groom and his family may arrive at the bride’s home in a march on the marriage time carrying trays of foodstuff, flowers, and other items. Participants in this celebratory and enjoyable festival sing songs to the defeat of much Thai drums. Sin Sod, cash, various gifts, betel nuts, fragrance sticks, candles, grains, and other sacred items that stand for like, wealth, longevity, or fertility are all found on the trays.

An elder from the couple’s family does put a customary tiara made of cotton on the bride and groom after they have passed the gates of the wedding venue. The two faces are therefore looped together with a specially prepared bright thread called” sai monkhon,” which represents the idea that even though they are uniting, they will always be separate institutions.
